Pedro Henríquez Ureña (1884-1946), el gran humanista dominicano, es considerado uno de los estudiosos más importantes de la lengua española, hijo del poeta dominicano Salomé Ureña y Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal, médico, abogado, escritor y educador dominicano. Henríquez Ureña publicó Horas de estudio (1910), En la orilla de mi España (1922), La utopía de América (1925), Seis ensayos en busca de nuestra expresión (1928), La cultura y las letras coloniales de Santo Domingo ), y Corrientes literarias en la América Hispana (1941), entre muchas otras obras. |
